Do you want to cycle near the sea with close proximity to sandy beaches and charming Skåne cities on a high quality national cycle path? This bike package between Simrishamn and Helsingborg lets you explore the Sydkust Trail which was inaugurated in the summer of 2019. It means cycling for six days along a pearl band of different attractions. Small fishing villages such as Skillinge, historical remains such as the powerful ship setting Ales Stones in Kåseberga, the medieval feeling in Ystad and the pulse of big cities such as Helsingborg and Malmö.

You spend the night in nice, selected accommodation along the way with your own character and good comfort. In Skåne there are restaurants and cafes of the highest class with the special enjoyment of the landscape as a signature. During these days of cycling on the well-organized cycle path, you will build up your very own relationship with the Skåne coast.

If you come by car, you can park in long-term parking in Simrishamn (7 days) on Stenbocksgatan (by the station) and on Strandvägen (by Hotell Svea).

Day 1

Simrishamn - Ystad

The bike tour starts in the medieval town of Simrishamn, in the heart of Österlen. Today's goal is Ystad, with half-timbered houses and cozy restaurants. You will cycle through Skillinge which is an old fishing village. Don't miss visiting Ales Stones above the village of Kåseberga, an ancient shipwreck dated about 600 which consists of 59 large boulders. The view of the steep coast and Bornholm is magical. Before you reach Ystad you can take a dip in the sea if the weather permits.

Overnight at Family Our House Bed & Breakfast in central Ystad, with a large garden and terrace.

Ystad - Trelleborg

After a delicious breakfast, it's time to start cycling towards Trelleborg, Sweden's southernmost city. You will cycle past Mossbystrand with its clear waters and vibrant fishing villages such as Abbekås and Hörte and the cozy harbor in Gislöv's location. In Smygehuk there are fish smokers with local specialties, shops and cozy cafes.

In Trelleborg there is a nice selection of shops, restaurants and several lush parks. At the city's highest point is Trelleborgen, a reconstruction of an old Viking castle with associated museum and café. Overnight stay at Clarion Collection Hotel Magazine which is centrally located in the city.

Day 3

Trelleborg - Skanör

The day starts with a nice breakfast at the hotel, and then the cycling starts towards Skanör, sometimes called the Swedish Riviera. You will experience the fishing village of Kämpinge with its dune landscape, relaxing beach life and hundreds of traditional cabins. The nature consists of sparse pine forests that give a special character to the landscape and smell good in the summer. The next stop is Höllviken with a nice center.

Falsterbo has one of northern Europe's most well-known bird watching spots and beautiful white beaches. For those who are interested in art, the range is large. Arriving in Skanör, you can visit local fish smokehouses, stroll among the beautiful houses and enjoy the view and atmosphere. Overnight stay at Hotell Gässlingen at Rådhustorget with a popular barbecue buffet or at Skanörs Gästgifvaregård.

Arriving in Malmö, you come to the city, which is known for its variety of shops, excellent restaurants of all price ranges. The proximity to Denmark and Copenhagen is clearly visible. Lilla Torg, Pildammsparken, Ribbans cold bath house, Slottsträdgården café, Turning Torso or a walk in Västra Hamnen are just a few tips on places to visit. Day 5

Malmö - Landskrona

After a delicious breakfast it is time to leave Malmö and cycle north towards Landskrona. You cycle through an open landscape with sea views and beautiful scenery. In Lomma you will experience a combination of contemporary architecture and old cobbled streets. Here is a winery with its own production and organic selection. In Bjärred there is the over 500 meter long jetty that you can walk all the way out to get a refreshing dip or visit the cold bath house and associated restaurant.

At Landskrona you will find the Citadellet, one of the Nordic region's best preserved 16th century fortresses with fantastic flower splendor on the ramparts. There is a rich cultural selection, nice restaurants, art exhibitions and fine beaches. One tip is to take your bike on the boat to the island of Ven with its beautiful scenery and fantastic ingredients from the local farm shops. You spend the night at Hotel Öresund Conferense & Spa overlooking both the city and the strait.

You cycle along the west coast and pass, among other things, the idyllic Borstahusen, a fishing village dating back to the 18th century and beautiful views of Ven. The beautiful countryside of Glumslövs slopes for the thoughts of Italy's Tuscany. Just in the outskirts of Helsingborg you come to Råå which is a cozy coastal community with nice shops and wonderful scenery.

There is much to discover in Helsingborg, and maybe you stay an extra night and visit Sofiero with its beautiful castle garden? You can also visit Fredriksdal's open-air museum or any exhibition at Dunkers Kulturhus?

Absolutely wonderful trip, which perhaps got extra plus points for the incredibly beautiful weather. Comments: A little better info about potential lunch spots on the trip. The directions around Malmö were NOT good!

The overall impression would have been 5 stars if signage in some places had been better. Needs to be reviewed.

A fantastic holiday. Cycling close to nature is a sensual experience. We appreciated the standard of the bikes we rented and the personal and friendly service. All accommodations were very good. It was extra fun that the debate was so different, from a small B&B to a spa hotel. We highly recommend vacationing in this way.

The food that was included in the package should perhaps be called more like supper instead of dinner, otherwise good.

Absolutely fantastic bike package. Nothing to complain about except the headwind. :-) Extra plus that the accommodation was directly connected to the cycle path, as good as it gets.

A wonderful trip that for us started in Gothenburg. A little stressed about whether we would get the bikes on the Öresund train and then the Pågatåget. But it went well because we were out in good time. More difficult on the way home from Helsingborg. Too bad the trains do not have more carriages for bicycles. Good weather the whole trip. a wonderfully nice joint. The signposts looked good. In Malmö on the way from the center, it was a bit uncertain marked towards Lomma. No problems with accommodation. Contact Sakura tours top. Can really recommend the tour! So fine!

A couple of stretches with a lot of mixed driving and somewhat defective and even wrong signage, which detracted a bit from the overall experience since we had three children.

A wonderful way to see Scania. In our group, everyone was "medium" trained and not at all used to long distance cyclists but it went great!

You need to review signs and signage depending on some "sabotage" and vegetation etc. You also need to review the map material so that the road surface appears correctly. No big things but nonetheless important.

The signage of the trail needs to be improved, e.g. at intersecting cycle paths. It happens that the sign is on the left side in the direction of travel, which may be on the other side of a busy road. Such a placement entails a risk of missing the sign. Furthermore, it would be easier if the marking always contained the direction of travel, especially important in densely populated areas, e.g. Malmo. Overall, a nice bike ride with good support from Sakura tours.

Very good service from Sakura tours. Most of the hotels and accommodations were very good in terms of service, with the exception of the accommodation Our House in Ystad, which lowers the rating. No "welcome here or anything like that" but his first question was if we had to park the bikes as close as it was outside his hotel... Even the Clarion Collection in Trelleborg were a bit disinterested and not so welcoming to guests. But otherwise the hotels were good even if not all could serve porridge for breakfast. - However, Hotel Öresund in Landskrona could, which did not have porridge in its usual breakfast selection, but happily helped make one for me and asked afterwards if it tasted good. So little is needed for you to feel extra satisfied.
