Småland takes its name from the twelve original small counties of Aspeland, Finnveden, Handbörd, Kinda, Möre, Njudung, Sevede, Tjust, Tveta, Vedbo, Vista and Värend. This division probably existed as early as the Viking Age and became firmly established during the Middle Ages. Each 'small country' had its own courthouse, where the court was held.
Hardly any other landscape can boast so many fantastic gravel roads. Here you will be at one with nature, tranquillity and the great forests. You will experience an exciting history with French Cistercian monks, Nydala Abbey Church, Kristian Tyrann's bloody journey through Småland and the magical Eksjöhovgård castle ruins on an island outside Sävsjö. But also stately gardens, cultural monuments, cozy cafes and shops to stop by. Welcome to experience cycling on winding small roads and many Småland treasures!
Day 1 - Arrival and discovery on Småland dirt roads

You arrive in the cozy little town of Vrigstad and check into your lovely room for the stay. Once you've settled in, there's a nice tour that's perfect as a warm-up. The tour is a mini adventure in itself, giving you a taste of the Småland forest, the many meadows and the sparkling lakes. On this particular tour, you have a great chance to see the King of the Forest up close - the moose. Maybe even more than once if you're lucky!
Stop by Norrsjön or Sörsjön near the cozy little village of Hetseryd and you may see one or two crayfish crawling around the rocks in the water. The lakes are very rich in crayfish and the "red gold" that is eaten mostly during the month of August, gilds many crayfish dishes around Småland and the rest of the country. A great start to your Småland cycling adventure!
Why not take a dip before dinner? We highly recommend the cozy bathing area at Slättsjön, which is only a two-minute drive from the hotel. The evening ends with a good locally produced dinner in the hotel's cozy restaurant.
Day 2 - New York in the Småland Highlands

The day starts with a delicious breakfast before an energetic and wonderful day on the bike saddle. Today it has become time for a real Roll's Royce round that we proudly call the New York round. You may wonder if it is possible to cycle all the way to New York on the Småland gravel roads? Yes, maybe! You will definitely get an answer to why we have chosen to name this tour the New York tour. On this tour, you can really take the cake and enjoy the present, past and future all at once. From castle ruins and medieval churches to cozy cafés and sparkling lakes.
You can enjoy your tasty bike lunch either at the ancient Eksjöhovgård castle ruins or the cozy Komstad mill. We also recommend that you make a classic coffee stop at Forssa Kvarnagård and Melins konditori two hot tips. After a nice day on the bike, you roll home to enjoy a well-composed 3-course dinner. Satisfied and satisfied, you crawl into the comfortable bed in the hotel room and remember the experiences of the day. Today's tour can be shortened.
Day 3 - Among donuts & manufacturers

After breakfast, it's time to head out on the Munkaleden. A bike ride where you will enjoy a wonderful mix of Småland history and nostalgia at its best. So hop on the saddle, snap your helmet and roll out on the Småland gravel!
A late lunch is perfect at Nydala Abbey Church, where peace and harmony quickly return. Satisfied, happy and filled with wonderful experiences, you are more than worth enjoying a good and cozy dinner. Maybe you top the evening with a "Gravel Rider", the hotel's own composed fresh bike drink, designed for you and your company.
Day 4 - Time to head home
Fill up with wonderful breakfast energy and feel proud and satisfied with your cycling adventure in the Småland highlands.
