Indulge in an enchanting cycling holiday along the Göta Canal. On this two-day journey, experience 16 locks and numerous bridges while biking on the car-free path beside the canal. This package is suitable for families with children and those who want to explore Göta Canal at a leisurely pace.

The Göta Canal, known as "Sweden's Blue Ribbon," is one of the world's most captivating waterways. This 190-kilometer hand-dug canal took 22 years to construct. In this cycling package, you'll continuously ride alongside the water on the car-free canal bank. Don't miss the chance to ride Europe's smallest ferry, Lina. You'll cycle on modern, high-quality 3-speed women's bikes equipped with luggage racks and baskets.

Day 1 - Bike Along Sweden's Blue Ribbon

Pick up your bike between 09:00-11:30 at Sjötorp's bike rental, just north of the canal bridge, and start your cycling tour along the Göta Canal on the historic towpath. Enjoy the beautiful, lush cultural landscape with farms, animals, and fields. There is much to discover along the way.

After approximately 7 km, you'll reach Lyrestad, an idyllic village by the canal where you can enjoy a break, explore shops, or visit ancient remains. Three kilometers further, you'll arrive at Norrkvarn lock area, where you can see a miniature Göta Canal and the famous "hotel stubs." In your pack, you have a delicious lunch package from Maltes Fish and Delicacies to enjoy at your leisure.

Following another 15 km of cycling, you'll pass Hajstorp lock café, one of Göta Canal's true gems, and soon you'll arrive in Töreboda, where the Lina ferry (Europe's smallest ferry) crosses the canal. A trip to the other side costs 1 krona. After the stop in Töreboda, you have just 7 km to the cozy and tranquil Jonsboda. A delicious dinner awaits you in the evening, along with your accommodation for the night.

If you wish to cycle a bit further, we recommend a trip to Tåtorp by Lake Viken, with one of the canal's hand-cranked locks. Along the way, you'll pass a small island that marks the highest point of the canal.

Day 2 - Breakfast, Cycling, and Homeward Journey

After breakfast, you'll cycle back towards Sjötorp, this time in the opposite direction. Take the opportunity to visit any sites you may have missed the previous day - there's sure to be an ice cream kiosk or shop you didn't have time to explore then.

Upon arrival in Sjötorp, return the bike and stroll to the cozy Kajutan restaurant, located right next to the Göta Canal locks. There, you can enjoy a delightful lunch, and afterward, we recommend taking a leisurely walk around Sjötorp to admire the beautiful boats moored in the area.
