Experience Unionsleden and Vänerleden

This bicycle package is perfect for those interested in culture and nature. You'll start in the small town of Borgvik, known for its well-preserved industrial heritage, and finish in "the big city" of Karlstad by Lake Vänern, Sweden's largest lake. During the tour, you'll have the opportunity to discover Värmland's rich cultural heritage through visits to Sliperiet in Borgvik, Lars Lerin Museum in Karlstad, and Värmland Museum. The region is well-known for its artists, and these places provide a unique insight into their works and contributions to Värmland's cultural heritage.

You will ride your bike through the beautiful Värmland countryside on small village roads, experiencing both the Unionsleden and Vänerleden, two national cycle paths that pass through the region. The roads are low-traffic and well-signposted, making it easy to find your way. During the trip, you can take in the stunning surroundings and experience the peaceful atmosphere of the Värmland countryside.

On the last night, you also have the opportunity to treat yourself to a delightful spa treatment at Vana SPA. If you would like to stay longer and explore more of Värmland, you can add extra nights to your package.

Day 1 - Arrival at Kungskvarnen in Borgvik

Upon arrival at Kungskvarnen in Borgvik, located in the heart of the Värmland region between Lake Värmeln and Lake Vänern where people have lived since the Bronze Age, you will check into your comfortable room. We recommend a visit to the Sliperiet art gallery before enjoying a three-course dinner in the old rustic mill building. After dinner, take a walk through the village and perhaps even a refreshing evening swim in the lake.

Day 2 - Winding Roads, Swimming and Wonderful Nature

After a good night's sleep, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast at Kungskvarnen's restaurant. Pack your lunch and cycle east on Unionsleden. The surroundings are beautiful, and there are plenty of nice places to stop along the way and have your packed lunch. A tip is to cycle down to Skutberget or Bomstadbaden for a refreshing swim and a coffee. Here you'll find both beautiful cliffs and sandy beaches.

Upon arrival in the afternoon, you will reach the conveniently located Elite Stadshotellet in Karlstad. The mighty Klarälven river flows through the city, offering plenty of opportunities to explore. After checking in, you may want to visit the Vana Spa adjacent to the hotel and unwind before dinner.

Day 3 - Discover Lars Lerin's Sandgrund

Start your day with a bountiful breakfast buffet and enjoy Karlstad's fantastic cultural offerings. Värmland is known for its artists, and both the Lars Lerin Museum and Värmland Museum have excellent exhibitions. If you want to stay an extra night in Karlstad, there are several enjoyable car-free day trips by bike, including south to Lillängshamnen on Hammarö or north on the Klarälvsbanan.
