The magnificent landscape of eastern Jämtland offers high mountains, deep valleys, forests and lakes. Marika Griehsel, the world-renowned foreign correspondent with roots in Gimdalen, is your guide and hostess at Mogården. Together with her husband Simon, she runs the charming accommodation, which also houses dogs and cats.

Day 1 - Arrival at Mogården Lodge

Arrival at Gimdalen. If you arrive by train, transportation to Mogården can be booked with the host couple for a fee. There you will be briefed over a cup of tea or coffee and spend the night at Mogården.
You will have access to a wood-fired sauna and hot tub for relaxation. In the evening, enjoy a good night's sleep in cozy rooms with a pleasant atmosphere.
Day 2 - Iron Age Burial Sites and a Refreshing Swim in Idsjön

Breakfast and review of the day's cycling adventure with map and packed lunch. You will experience moose pits, Iron Age graves and ancient fishing traditions. There will be a stop to cook lunch and swim at Vakten. The bike ride continues around the picturesque lake Idsjön.
After the day's adventures, you cycle back to Mogården Lodge, where you can enjoy a relaxing moment in the cozy wood-fired sauna.
Day 3 - Meet Goats and Forest Orchids

Enjoy a delicious breakfast before setting off on the small forest trails. Along the way you will pass through picturesque little nature reserves. The area is rich in woodland orchids, and the beautiful little Linnean grows practically everywhere in the area.
The tour goes in a forest environment and we walk the last bit to the beautiful viewpoint Kroktjärn. We cycle on forest roads and swim in Lillmysjön where the lunch bag can be enjoyed. Further towards Idsjöströmmen, berry and mushroom picking before heading home again.
During the month of July, the tour can go to Åsbergets farm dairy, where you can enjoy your packed lunch and learn more about the animals, as well as buy their delicious cheeses. On the way home, there is the opportunity to take a dip in Gråsjön. The name comes from frog and lake, and it is not uncommon to encounter small frogs in the woods and fields in these parts.
In the evening, you can appreciate the beauty and tranquility of nature that surrounds you. Perhaps you'll gather around the fireplace in the library, where Marika shares her adventures through photos, videos, and inspiring stories.
Day 4 - Morning swim, ice cream and return home
Early breakfast, bike to our local swimming beach. We have ice cream at the "world-famous" ice cream parlor before the train heads south at about 1 p.m. Transportation to the train from Mogården can be booked by the host couple for a fee. With you home you have many unforgettable memories.
