Small coastal roads wind their way to the deep forests of Tyresta National Park. You continue on gravel roads to Dalarö, a lively archipelago village with narrow alleys, colorful wooden houses, beaches and wonderful views of the islands in the southern archipelago. Island jump to Ornö and explore all corners of the island and do not miss to climb up the lookout tower with miles of views of endless islands… Enjoy a cruise back to Stockholm that takes you past lots of islands, narrow canals and idyllic summer houses by the water.

The first cycling day is about 43 km in slightly hilly terrain. The second cycling day is shorter and flexible so that you can adjust the distance to your wishes - however, we recommend that you calculate at least 25 km of cycling to get the most out of the day.

Note that you do not have all day to complete the cycling distance. Day 1 you leave the archipelago boat at Tyresö at 10.25. Day 2 leaves the archipelago boat Ornö Church between kl. 16.00 & 16.55. However, the cycle path is easy with slightly hilly terrain. If you upgrade your accommodation to Smådalarö Gård, you must calculate an additional 5 km of cycling both days.

Day 1

Stockholm-Tyresö Castle-Tyresta National Park-Dalarö

bicycle package dalarö stockholms archipelago2

In the morning you take the archipelago boat from Stockholm to Tyresö, where you start cycling. The first attraction is Tyresö Castle, an impressive castle dating from the 17th century and lovely English gardens by the water. Take a walk over to the nearby small islands with wonderful sea views before continuing your bike ride along quiet small roads the short way to Tyresta National Park. Tyresta is a protected area with trees that are over 400 years old, sparkling forest lakes and a rich wildlife. Deer roam free and you can see moose when dusk falls. You can take a break from cycling and hiking on the paths through the endless forests of pine and birch, take a refreshing dip as you pass one of the many lakes. Find the perfect place and enjoy the tranquility and breathtaking nature in Stockholm's nearest national park.

Then you continue the bike ride and cycle through fields and forests until you reach the idyllic village Dalarö, your first taste of Stockholm's wonderful archipelago. Dalarö is an old customs station that was developed into a popular holiday resort during the latter part of the 19th century due to its beautiful location and charming houses. Explore the picturesque narrow streets of colorful wooden houses, swim from the white beaches of the Swiss Valley or visit the charming 15th-century church.

Day 2

In the morning you can spend a few hours exploring Dalarö village and do not miss a walk up to the beautiful viewpoint on Lotsberget with sweeping views of the archipelago. You then take the boat and go out among the thousands of islands that make up the southern part of Stockholm's archipelago, a seemingly endless archipelago with 24,000 islands located right at Stockholm's inlet. It stretches about 80 km east of Stockholm deep into the Baltic Sea and was formed during the last ice age - today it is considered one of the world's natural wonders.

The first stop takes you to beautiful Ornö. Ornö is the largest island in the southern archipelago, a total of 14 km long and 6 km at its widest part. Ornö has traditionally been less exploited for tourism than some of the neighboring islands and is today an island with a vibrant community that has not yet been discovered by large-scale tourism. You then have the chance to visit all corners of the island on two wheels and enjoy unique nature around Mane Äng, with both forest and open landscape, plus opportunities to swim in the lake and visit the wooden church from 1885. Do not miss a walk up to Ornö's viewpoint on Telegrafberget , the highest point in the southern archipelago.

In the afternoon you take the boat from Ornö back to Stockholm and enjoy the beautiful landscape when the boat takes you past islands, canals and idyllic summer houses by the water.
