Experience Utö and Ålö in Stockholm's southern archipelago by bicycle. Here you cycle on winding gravel roads in beautiful nature through forests and pastures or along the water. The island is perfect for discovering by bike. The road that runs along the entire island, between Ålö in the south and Gruvbyn in the north, offers a varied beautiful landscape with forest, meadows and sea.

The package includes a three-course dinner at the historic, well-reputed Utö Inn and overnight stay in charming hotel cabins or the picturesque Stenhotellet and Kvarnvillan, and of course a fantastic breakfast buffet to start the day with. The price includes hotel accommodation one night with a share in a double / family room. For families with children, there is access to children's bicycles and an extra bed for the children.

Boat connections are available depending on the season from Nynäshamn, Årsta Brygga and Strömkajen in central Stockholm (boat travel is not included in the price). It is possible to bring your bike on board the Waxholmsbolaget's boats. Here you will find Waxholmsbolaget's timetables for archipelago traffic. Here is a map from Utö Tourist Office and here you can see the film about Utö.

Day 1

Coffee in the mining village and find your own beach

In Gruvbyn there are several restaurants, bakeries and activities but with a few hours by bike you also reach unique sandy beaches or a cliff just for yourself. In the small mining museum next to the inn you can follow interesting parts of Utö's history, and there is also a museum shop. The mine museum is close to several of the quarries and the many powerful warp piles that characterize the landscape.

In a beautiful hillside down towards Mysingen lies Lurgatan with its red little cottages. The cottages were built in the mid-1700s after many homes were destroyed by Russians who ravaged the island. There were two families of miners in each cottage. Utö church is the archipelago's largest stone church and was erected in the middle of the 19th century after drawings by Johan Fredrik Åbom (he has also designed Bern's lounges, Hasselbacken and the Musical Academy in Stockholm). The organ is considered to be the oldest preserved in Sörmland.

Utö's perhaps best known building is the mill. It has been a trademark and symbol of Utö since it was built in 1791. During the summer months the mill opens and then you can enjoy the fantastic view.

Really super well arranged with everything from booking to accommodation and service. Good info and quick response. We had a great trip. Very nice staff at the inn and fantastic food! Too bad they just before laid new gravel on the roads so it was a bit difficult to cycle in some places. But it certainly only happens once a year. Thanks for a great weekend. / Christina

It wasn't the best experience I've had. Our first impression of Utö we got from the woman in the Tourist Office, which was a social disaster. Inn friendly and very good accommodation, the 4 course package was good but we had hoped for more. OK working bikes, the road to Ålö and back was quite boring, dirt road with forest on both sides and we did not dare to make any detour due to warnings about shooting range down to the water. I tend to be positive for the most part but this stay cannot get better ratings.

The bikes were not in top condition. An alarm clock did not work. Handbrake was missing on 2 of the bikes. We were 4 people cycling.
