This cycling package gives you the opportunity to experience Sweden's largest building project and one of the country's biggest tourist attractions. You will enjoy many fantastic views as you cycle along the historic towpaths. Sights such as the canal's highest point at 91.5 meters above sea level and the hand-operated lock in Tåtorp make your trip even more memorable.

The scenic bike ride is on car-free roads a few meters from the edge of the canal, making your cycling holiday along the Göta Canal both safe and enjoyable. The starting and ending point is Töreboda, which is located in the middle of the Göta Canal stretch. Here you stay two nights at Prästgårdens Pensionat in Töreboda, which will be your base for the cycling package.

It is a fantastic nature experience to cycle at a leisurely pace along the old towpaths, stop and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea that you have with you in your backpack. In the evening, dinner and a comfortable bed await at Pensionat Prästgården. During your Göta Canal cycling vacation, you will discover one of Sweden's most charming and relaxing cycling routes, perfect for both beginners and experienced cyclists.

Day 1 - Töreboda - Sjötorp - Töreboda

The journey starts in Töreboda where you can easily travel by train. Then follows a charming canal-side bike ride past 19 locks to Sjötorp. In Sjötorp, you can stop and have a packed lunch by the harbor basin (of course named after Baltzar von Platen, who created the canal). You can learn more about the canal by visiting the canal museum (admission included) located at Sjötorp harbour. When you are satisfied with the day, it is time to cycle back to Töreboda and the waiting dinner at Pensionat Prästgården in the middle of Töreboda near the Göta canal.

Day 2 - Töreboda - Tåtorp - Töreboda

After a good breakfast, the bike ride continues to Tåtorp and finally down to Töreboda On the way you pass Wassbacken and then the island of Lanthöjden where you will find the seven meter high obelisk that marks the canal's highest land point at 91.5 m above sea level. The cycle tour continues to beautiful Tåtorp, where the Göta canal flows into lake Viken.

In Tåtorp there are the canal's two manually operated locks. It was built in 1814, is a level lock that regulates the water level between the canal and lake Viken and has a drop height of 0.2 meters. Then you cycle back to Töreboda, where an overnight stay and dinner await.

Day 3 - Töreboda

Enjoy breakfast at the guest house. You have the bikes at your disposal on this day as well. We hope you have gained lots of new memories and pleasant experiences along the Göta canal.

Getting Here

There is good communication to and from Töreboda, here the western main line crosses the Göta canal. You can easily take the train from Stockholm and Gothenburg.

Confirmation and invoice are sent directly from the local tour operator. No payment is made to Sweden by Bike. 
 
Payment terms for this package:
- 30% of the price of the bike package must be paid within 7 days after the booking is confirmed.
- The remaining amount is payable at least 30 days before departure.
- More detailed information will be sent out with the confirmed booking

Until 40 days before the start date a fee is payable (500 kr/person if the price of the trip is max 4 000 kr/person, 1 000 kr/person if the price of the trip is more than 4 001 kr/person)

As the weather was +35', there should have been a fan in the room. The food package was under all criticism, a few slices of meat a salad made of some tomato pieces + some lettuce leaves and half the box of chopped parsley! No saturation in it! + to the pub KRUBB in Töreboda 😁👍

Nice accommodation and hospitality. Well organized. Unnecessarily stingy that you could not choose the entire lunch offer at Baltzars café due to small price differences. Fun cycle path Töreboda-Sjötorp.

What was sad was that when I booked the price on the page was SEK 2790 / person when I received the payment it was SEK 3100! Then I had booked 1 route but was redirected to another, but in the end I got my route that I ordered! Otherwise, everything was great, but the price annoys me.

We were really happy with our little bike holiday. Starting date June 19. The 3rd day we should have breakfast. However, we would like to point out that we did not get any breakfast in Jonstorp .. We were on site from 07.55 - 08.15 .. then we traveled on. Breakfast was to be served from 8am ... but no one showed up. Yours sincerely Åke o Gunilla Nilsson

The marking of the joint in some sections is inadequate. The Töreboda - Sjötorp section no problems, especially as one had the channel as a lead, unlike the Jonsboda - Tåtorp section which eventually withdrew from the channel (maybe because I made the wrong choice with no guided guidance?). In any case, I suddenly found myself on a trail that, according to the label, ended in Karlsborg and decided to give up Tåtorp and, after some annoyance, reached back to Jonsboda.

Fantastic nice bike ride for three days. However, the weather was not so nice, windy and rainy two of the days. Since we cycled so early in the season, the café in Tåtorp was not open yet. May be good to note in the program. Feel free to mention that the sauna, which we hoped for, costs 300 SEK to rent!

The accommodation in Brovaktarstugan was above expectations. We found out that we feel "too spoiled" for staying in a camping cabin, going to the toilet in the dark when you need to go there at night (there was nothing wrong with the cabin). It wasn't that far from Jonstorp to Töreboda. Had we had a face in hand we would have preferred to stay in Brovaktarstugan one more night.
