Day 1 - Discover the archipelago

Cottage on Senoren
10-30 km
Stenbrakkagarden - Tjurkö

You arrive in Karlskrona, which is an exciting and beautiful city to discover for both young and old. The city is on UNESCO's list of inalienable world heritage sites thanks to the fact that the city's structure is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a European military city. Here you will find, among other things, the ropes course from the 1690s, one of the city's oldest preserved buildings and Sweden's longest wooden building (300 meters long).

You take the archipelago boat to Sturkö or Tjurkö and explore the archipelago landscape before sleeping in a cabin at Senoren.
Senoren is connected to the mainland via the Möcklösund Bridge, which is an attraction in itself with its 18-meter free sailing height. At the foot of the bridge you will find a restaurant and farm shop. Don't miss the sweet strawberries and delicious new potatoes when they are in season!

The island of Senoren, whose agricultural landscape is beautifully framed by lush greenery, offers plenty of small roads that meander through the island and are perfectly designed for pleasant bike rides. On the island you will also find the fine bathing place Sandvik, the Viking village Valshall and a general store.

Day 2 - Cycling to picturesque Kristianopel

Kristianopels Gästgiveri, Kristianopel
Breakfast
30 km
Folk life - Kristianopel

After a scrumptious breakfast, today's cycling adventure takes you northwards to the charming town of Kristianopel, once Denmark's southeasternmost outpost in the 1600s. The bike ride leads through Blekinge's scenic countryside, with small roads winding through farmland, oak trees, and meadows. As you reach the Kalmarsund peninsula where Kristianopel is located, prepare to be enchanted by this unique place.

In this picturesque town, history mixes with the cries of seagulls and the laughter of children. Here you can experience the town's main features (including the beautiful roses in all their forms) the ring-shaped wall, the historic church and the cozy harbor. On clear days you can see all the way to the "Långe Jan" lighthouse on the southern tip of Öland. In the surrounding area there are a number of farm shops offering local delicacies and there are several different places to swim. The water is usually warm until well into September and during the high season, historical hikes are organized. Overnight stays are available at Kristianopel's inn.

Day 3 - Cycling to Lyckeby through scenic landscape

Hotel / hostel in Lyckeby
Breakfast
40 km
Cycling holiday - Blekinge gate

After a delicious breakfast, the bike ride continues through the scenic farmland and meadows of Blekinge, where beech, chestnut, and walnut trees grow. You'll mostly cycle on forest and village roads to Lyckeby, one of the oldest settlements in Blekinge, which used to provide Karlskrona with flour and water. It was called Lyckå at the time and later became a Danish market town. The once fortified castle is now a beautiful medieval ruin and a sight worth seeing. Other highlights include Kronokvarnen, Lyckeby Bridge, and Lyckeby Spring. Accommodation is located on the outskirts of Lyckeby.

Day 4 - Towards Aspö

Aspö Pilot Tower, Drottningskär
Breakfast
About 15-20 km
Aspö pilot tower

After breakfast, head towards Karlskrona, and feel free to stop at the small local park Wämö. When you feel like it, take the road ferry out to Aspö, about 25 minutes into the archipelago.

On Aspö you can visit charming cafés and galleries. There is also a farm shop, kiosk and the opportunity to ride Icelandic horses. Or just enjoy the sea and all the swimming opportunities. If you want to have dinner in a beautiful place, we recommend a visit to Drottningskär Castle from the 17th century, which with its thick walls, moats and cannons excites the imagination. You stay at Aspö Lotstorn - an archipelago hotel with breathtaking views in all four directions. The hotel, an old pilot tower from 1945, has five floors and is about twenty meters high and from the top floor you can see all the way to Utklippan, the outermost island in the Karlskrona archipelago.

Day 5 - Back to Karlskrona and return home

Breakfast
5 km
Cycling in Karlskrona

After a delicious breakfast, the cycling adventure concludes with a short ride to Karlskrona. Along the way, you can stop by the charming Vämö heritage park. There are many other exciting attractions to explore in Karlskrona, including the Naval Museum, the Porcelain Museum, and the Car Museum, to name just a few enjoyable destinations for a final outing.

Overall a very nice trip in lovely surroundings! Good accommodation and service that was matched with attractions along the islands and the coast. Our only minus is that it was somewhat unclear some parts of the cycling, i.a. we were referred to a road on Sturkö which was signposted with a driving ban. See: 56°05'44.2"N 15°39'31.1"E. We can otherwise recommend this nice trip!

Hey!
The sign reads "vehicle traffic prohibited", cycling is allowed.
Yours sincerely, Maud.

We went v24 and in many ways it was too early in the season. Had asked the question before but got the go-ahead. Few cafes etc open. The boat recommended on the first day did not leave until 14.40, which had caused difficulties in catching up with the day's cycling. Got a tip in the sports shop about another boat that left 12.15. The second day's biggest problem was the possibility of having dinner. The only open food service in Kristianopel closed the kitchen at 16. Otherwise, nice bike ride and we left bikes and packing on the fourth day at the hotel in Karlskrona and took a boat trip to Nättraby and got off at Dragsö on the return road and walked from there. Nice ride! The highlight of the trip was Aspö where we went first at 18, got a nice bike ride around the island in the evening and then a fantastic overnight stay in Lotstornet with great breakfast.

All good except for ambiguities regarding map material and directions. With Google Maps you can get around but there are many doubts in the description of the bike path.

Hi there! Thank you for your comments. I am in the process of reviewing the map material and directions for the Coastal Tour - it is a route that has been redesigned I have noticed.
Best regards, Maud.

We are very satisfied. It was hot and the bikes were a bit sluggish, so a bit hard. But we made it!

Hello. what fun that you are happy and that you struggled with the stable 3-speed bikes of the brand "Pilen" we use.
Yours sincerely, Maud.

Hi, there. We are a little older and like coffee breaks. Tjurkö was closed, on Sturkö as well, dinner at Brofästet then, closed! Food basket in the cottage was gold, thanks Maud! To and from Kristianopel no coffee breaks, sad! Utetoa at Gästis in K, sad in the middle of the night. Good bikes! Put Aspö first in the tour! A feeling only. Greetings Maud and Sture Torngren

Hello, everyone! Thank you very much for your comments. Unfortunately, some operators have started to close earlier in August, which is very sad. On the point about Aspö first on the tour, it was so before. I will review the arrangement of the bike package and am glad that the food basket and bikes were satisfactory.
I wish you a pleasant summer, Maud/3 Steps.
July 2023, Cecilia
Uneven quality of accommodation which was not stated in the travel program. Standard of camping did not meet expectations. Nice bike paths, except for the last stretch between Kristianopel and Karlskrona which was mostly on a very busy road.

In the "General Conditions! that you receive when booking states:
Please note that the standard may differ from one accommodation to another, but the aim is always to make sure you sleep well after your cycling/hiking day. Sometimes a shower and toilet can be found in a service building nearby. Sometimes breakfast is packed in the fridge, sometimes you eat at a restaurant.
We have now clarified the information in the cycling package.
The route between Kristianopel and Karlskrona has been redesigned because the smaller roads are very bad in places. We will provide better information about it in the roadmap and that there is another alternative that is twice as long. Kind regards Maud/3 Steps
August 2022, Birgitta G.
Good cycling routes.
August 2021, Lena L.
Nice trip with good roads to cycle on with the exception of some shorter distances on the country road with a lot of traffic. Unfortunately, much was closed, eateries and sights week 33 as we cycled. Suggestion is to turn the round so the long distance comes first and the nice coastal, including the islands comes last. Good treatment and service by Maud on 3 steps.
August 2021, Carin H.
On the whole, a nice bike ride, but maps, descriptions and markings of trails have shortcomings. Regards BABC 🚴🏼‍♂️🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼🚴🏼‍♂️
August 2021, Ejra A.
Everything was perfect. The only negative for us was that it was not well marked how to park for a long time with a mobile home. We were fined.
August 2021, Ylva Wilin
Both rice and praise. Hard to find food on the islands. Difficult to get the bikes on boats. Maud was very helpful.
August 2021, Anette E.
The cycling experience itself was a five but the directions were not so good in some places, especially to and from Kristianopel. We cycled wrong a couple of times from Kristianopel to Karlskrona. We also missed that Senoren when we arrived the same day we received information that we were going to Sturkö camping instead of Senoren. On Sturkö it was a bit difficult to find food for the evening. Aspå and Kristianopel, on the other hand, were fantastic places. To end with the last night in Karlskrona was great. We can imagine doing this again.
July 2021, Björn R.
Nice areas, and cozy places to stay. Aspö little island for cycling experience. Didn't get Tjurkö with us as it was unclear about boats there. Nice day between Senoren and Kristianopel, but too little cycling along the coast. Christianopel beautiful!!! Difficult to follow the map between Kr.opel-K.krona, would like better signage of the route. Some roads were barely cycleable with our bikes. All in all: nice week with sun and beautiful weather!
July 2021, Peter K.
Heavy bicycles, no / few rest areas or places to eat, on many stretches there were boring country roads and small roads as there was not much to experience. The ferry from Aspö took only a few bikes so you had to worry about whether you got a seat or not. The accommodation was great good breakfasts, but at Senoren it was not possible to get a place that served dinner after 5.30 pm luck that Ica existed.
July 2021, IngaLill T.
Cycle paths; badly marked in many places. Too little along water, mostly forest. Kustvägen promised food handling, etc., unfortunately most were closed! Difficult to find places to eat on the entire route. The description of the cycling was vague and unclear. The accommodations are generally good and pleasant. Improvement advice; send info in good time and preferably printed together with tourist brochures. Blekinge needs to get better at welcoming tourists. 😊
July 2021, Maud E.
We would have preferred to have had our own toilet in all accommodations. At Särö, there was no possibility of getting a real dinner with potatoes, rice or pasta if you don't like Thai food. On the island of Senoren, you had to shop at ICA if you wanted dinner. There they lived in a campsite that it didn't say was supposed to be. Maud at "3 steps" is very accommodating and helpful.
July 2021, Eva-Lott G.
On easily trampled Pilen bikes, stable and good, we completed our cycling holiday of 120 km with a smile on our face! Beautiful Blekinge offered the best weather and overnight stays we really enjoyed were Gästis in Kristianopel and Aspö Lotstorn. Nice welcome everywhere. Not just by the organizers. However, we share the desire of many Blekinge residents that Karlskrona municipality should build cycle paths on some heavily trafficked narrow roads! The forest road section of the Blekingeleden is also something that should be reviewed. But overall we are more than happy!
September 2020, Barbro Isaksson
Felt that I received good support from Maud. Perfect cycling month / September. There will certainly be more cycling in Sweden in the future.
September 2020, Ann-chrisin
We knew it was low season, but we didn't think it would be so difficult to get food. The inn was good service but we were completely confined to the small room in the side house, there were no other premises.
August 2020, Göran Clare’n
A wonderful bike ride in the archipelago and on land.
August 2020, Jörgen Arnesson
It was a varied and pleasant trip. Really liked the flexibility in the layout which meant that we had one night in Karlshamn and then the last night on Aspö.

Great service, everyone helped when we arrived. Everyone who took care of renting rooms, bicycles etc. has been very nice.
June 2020, Catarina
Easy to get around with the bikes on the boats between the islands. Bit cycling on busy 70-lane, which gets a little nervous when cycling with children. Advantage to book via local person (Maud on Tre Trappsteg), who had arranged very cozy accommodation along the way. Statt hotel in Karlskrona very boring in comparison, but totally okay for easy overnight. Was good to change the route on the last day to avoid the route inland from Kristianopel where, according to previous reviews, it is easy to get lost and instead stick to the coast road down to Torhamn to take the boat from there to Karlskrona.
June 2020, Philip och Maria
Very nice and cozy route! Accessible except for parts of the Bleking Trail which were stony at times, but the bikes we got worked anyway for the purpose. Many restaurants and the like were closed, if this is because we cycled early in the season or the situation with covid-19 we do not know. But on the whole, VERY idyllic and cozy route that we recommend!

Hello We received very good service and service from Maud Selander, 3Trappsteg. When it comes to cycling and living, we are satisfied / very satisfied with the first three nights, ie even Kristianopel. Aspö lot tower was by far the coolest experience and the proprietor turned out to be a fantastic storyteller and guide. Use him more systematically, he would probably like it. The cycling to the Kustgården Senoren was very nice and the camping cabin as camping cabins are, quite ok. We got an incredibly generous breakfast basket there. When we were there, the Pentecostal church in Jönköping had camps for young people, which is totally ok. You can, however, wonder if it is ok that they start at 8 in the morning with warm-up music in festival volume, I would guess at about 90 dB. We were going up and away anyway, but otherwise people were sleeping. The accommodation in Kristianopel was very nice, although we had to call the host to be able to enter the room. There were keys in the key cabinets with code and everything went well, but it should be stated in the instructions that people may not be there and that you should call. The directions for cycling are not world class, but until Kristianopel it works reasonably if you have a little imagination. The trip Kristianopel - Lyckå is directly distressing with many ambiguities and direct errors in the directions. In addition, Lyckå is incomprehensible in itself. Here we have visited one fantastic place after the other and the tour ends with an obscure suburb of Karlskrona and an accommodation that is just next to a very busy traffic lane. When we got there, we decided to skip that night and cycle the extra mile to Karlskrona instead. That stop is really incomprehensible. For us, five miles is not a remarkable distance, but if that is the problem, you just draw a straight line so that the cycling goes to Karlskrona directly, or you change Lyckå to another more sensible place that is sights and scenic so that the cycling ends. in a good way. Now it became a really sad anticlimax. There will be no fives in the grades, as the final content does not measure up. Sorry, otherwise we got a lot for the money.
August 2019, K.wiklander
A wonderful nature experience, mixed water, road and forest. Difficulty reading the map or finding markings in some sections. Desirable to get an overall picture of the entire bike ride.
July 2019, Lennart Fält
Pretty simple bikes. Would have been happy to pay a little more for better bikes. Mainly considering that the road was partly bad and difficult to cycle. The cycling experience was overall pleasant and varied. We think the first overnight stay at Aspö was the best.
July 2019, Peter Ryberg
Fantastic nice and varied cycling. The weather, of course, contributed to a nice bike ride. However, it was a bit tricky to find the right path at some places. This tour can hardly be recommended to anyone who is not used to reading such maps or does not have GPS with them! One recommendation is that in some places, in some way, sign up with directions. Please look forward to this for next season!
July 2019, Kristina Lorén
A nice experience to see a bit of Blekinge from a bike. We cycled to Kristianopel the first day. Overnight at the inn which had great rooms and a nice hostess. Unfortunately there was nowhere to eat as no restaurants had opened yet for the evening season. Luckily, the grocery store was open for another quarter of an hour, so there was panic cycling there for grocery shopping. Fantastically beautiful in Kristianopel and all its flowering roses. We ate breakfast at "Sött och Salt" down by the harbor, very good and friendly staff. The next day's trip went to Lyckeby. In some places the signage was bad so there were some to cycle back a few times. Varying surfaces as we also stepped forward via forest roads on the Blekingeleden. Dip into a lake for the brave during the day. Finally arrived in Lyckeby after about 40 km and wonderful accommodation. Good dinner in the evening at a restaurant within walking distance. Next day on mother Karlskrona. We stayed in Vämöparken for coffee and ice cream. Very nice park with old houses, animals and that day flea market at the dance floor. On to Aspö for the last night on our cycling holiday. We lived in the pilot tower and it was nice with the view room at the top. Both lunch and dinner were taken at Kastellet, highly recommended. Very good food in a cozy environment with beautiful stone arches. The next day we cycled back to Karlskrona where we started from the beginning. Nice city with beautiful environments. The walk through the gravel paths on Brändaholm was one of the highlights and unforgettable.
July 2019, Katarina Kyrksjö
Cycled in fine nature. Just a long ride. 3 good accommodations. The cabins we lived in were poorly cleaned. A little poor service when we arrived no maps and tickets printed.
July 2019, Mona wignell
As previous comments a little bad directions, but we fixed it. 👍
August 2018, Lillemor Brenter
The trip description was a bit difficult at times but otherwise everything was very well arranged.
August 2018, Fanny Ahlgren
Lovely luck very bathed in the heat. Everything worked well except the description Kristianopel-Lyckeby. Would be good with one page per stage not having to scroll. The maps could perhaps be improved.
July 2018, Gunilla Janson
Nice bike ride.
July 2018, Christina Schultz
A trip where we got a lot for the money but we wanted the route to stay even more on the coast or on the islands.
July 2018, AC Gjörloff
Nice bike ride in a varied environment.
July 2018, Monika Gustafsson
Great nature experience. Fun with the detour in Olsäng. It was magically beautiful. We drove wrong in Flyeboda. There could have been a sign along with the trail. Otherwise, great bike paths.
June 2018, Lisbeth Johansson
The bike path's signs had lost their color in some places and some were obscured by vegetation so we cycled wrong a few times, but we are satisfied and will hire you on our next cycling trip in Sweden.
This is a self-guided beginner-friendly bicycle tour. The cycling takes place on both asphalt and gravel in a very safe traffic environment. e-bike is available.
