We enjoyed the marvelous region of Dalarna around the Siljan lake. Nice accommodations and just enough km/day to enjoy the villages. Thanks, lovely holiday!

Welcome to explore the beautiful Siljan region on a bicycle, with Rättvik as your starting point. Here you will find plenty of hiking and biking trails, restaurants, cafes, local artisans, small shops, and unique attractions to visit.

This cycling package offers stunning views of the diverse and picturesque landscapes of the Dalarna region, passing through several charming villages with their closely situated red-painted houses and winding village roads. The route also follows old abandoned limestone railways that were once used to transport the limestone mined in the many quarries of the area.

Along the way, you will see traces of the forestry that has been taking place in the area for hundreds of years, and you can experience the spectacular open-air arena of Dalhalla, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Siljan region. You will cycle at your own pace and stay in comfortable accommodations along the way. Luggage transport between accommodations is included.

Day 4 and Day 5 present an opportunity to enhance your experience by opting for unique accommodation. At Kungshaga Hotel in Orsa, you can indulge in a floating hotel room on Lake Orsa, while at Näsets Marcusgård in Furudal, you can opt for unique treehouses known as "supermoons."

During peak season (Jun-Aug), the price is slightly higher at 8,500 SEK per person. For larger groups, it is also possible to choose a triple room or a family room, with a price per person that is 500 SEK and 1,500 SEK lower, respectively.

Rättvik's church

On the final day of the cycling tour, you'll have the opportunity to explore the charming old village environment of Norrboda Gammelstan as well as the fascinating geology of the Styggforsen nature reserve and waterfall in Boda Kyrkby. This area clearly shows the visible traces of a powerful meteorite impact that occurred 400 million years ago, and has since left a lasting impact on the Siljan region in various ways.

Before you arrive in Rättvik and Hotel Lerdalshöjden, you pass the unique agricultural landscape of Nedre and Övre Gärdsjö. The area is also known as the Barn Kingdom because of its approximately 200 old barns, the oldest of which is from the 13th century, one of the oldest known in Sweden. Here is also Björgårdens syltmakeri with its charming farm shop. Once back in Rättvik, it's time to tie up the trip and enjoy one last time a wonderful sunset over Siljan.

Dalarna and the Siljan region thank you for your visit and warmly welcome you back for new discoveries!

Very satisfied but some thoughts. Sijansnäs where we had a double bed in a single room very crowded and the food selection at the hotel was not the best entrees that were expensive and small portions. The last accommodation was more a hostel not really hotel standard but nice in its own way. Luggage transportation was handled excellently... Dalarna is a fantastic landscape ❤️

Dear Sören & Marita! Thank you for your review of our cycling package Bicycle Magic at Siljan. Your comments are valuable and help us to improve the experience in the future. We are pleased that you generally seem to have had nice days in Dalarna. However, we regret that the experience at Siljansnäs hotel was not so successful. We have contacted them to find out what went wrong with the room. You were booked in a normal double room. They have also received your feedback on the food. Regarding the last accommodation, there is unfortunately no hotel in Furudal. The accommodation we have chosen to include in this package is instead a family and in our opinion cozy B&B but just as you write not hotel standard. We will review and clarify the description of the accommodation in the package. We wish you a continued nice summer. A warm welcome back to Dalarna!

Regards, Lotta/ Green Owl Travel
