Welcome to explore the beautiful Siljan region on a bicycle, with Rättvik as your starting point. Here you will find plenty of hiking and biking trails, restaurants, cafes, local artisans, small shops, and unique attractions to visit.
This cycling package offers stunning views of the diverse and picturesque landscapes of the Dalarna region, passing through several charming villages with their closely situated red-painted houses and winding village roads. The route also follows old abandoned limestone railways that were once used to transport the limestone mined in the many quarries of the area.
Along the way, you will see traces of the forestry that has been taking place in the area for hundreds of years, and you can experience the spectacular open-air arena of Dalhalla, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Siljan region. You will cycle at your own pace and stay in comfortable accommodations along the way. Luggage transport between accommodations is included.
Day 4 and Day 5 present an opportunity to enhance your experience by opting for unique accommodation. At Kungshaga Hotel in Orsa, you can indulge in a floating hotel room on Lake Orsa, while at Näsets Marcusgård in Furudal, you can opt for unique treehouses known as "supermoons."
During peak season (Jun-Aug), the price is slightly higher at 8,500 SEK per person. For larger groups, it is also possible to choose a triple room or a family room, with a price per person that is 500 SEK and 1,500 SEK lower, respectively.
Day 1 - The Summer Idyll of Rättvik & Dalhalla

Upon arrival and check-in, take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the popular Dalarna town of Rättvik, a destination that has attracted tourists from far and wide for over 100 years. Enjoy breathtaking views from the ski slope or Vidablick lookout tower, take a stroll along the long pier with a Rättvik ice cream in hand, wander around the church grounds and peek into the beautiful Rättvik church, visit the medieval church stables, grab a coffee at Rättviks Gammelgård, and check out the Wasastenen and Stiernhööksstenen historical monuments.
If you arrive early, there's a great opportunity to discover Rättvik by bike. Take a chance to cycle the Dalhalla route, which takes about 3-4 hours and passes by the famous outdoor venue of Dalhalla and the popular Nittsjö ceramics factory. You can also join a guided bike tour with a local guide.
Day 2 - Idyllic Dalarna Scenery & Enjoyable Views (Rättvik-Tällberg-Leksand-Siljansnäs)

When you're on your way to Siljansnäs, on the other side of Lake Siljan, you'll pass through the beautiful Dalarna idyll of Tällberg. Here, hotels and cafes mix with the everyday life of the locals in the traditional Falu red houses. Don't forget to stop by Leksand and visit the beautiful garden at Hildasholm.
Once you arrive in Siljansnäs, you can take the opportunity to hike up to the top of the mountain and enjoy the fantastic view over Siljansnäs and Siljan. Enjoy delicious food at Buffils Anna and explore the exhibitions on Dalarna's flora and fauna at Naturum Siljansnäs.
Day 3 - Forest and Exciting Viking-era Burial Grounds (Siljansnäs-Gesunda-Sollerön-Mora)

The road is lined with alternating forests and cultivated landscapes before a bridge leads you to Sollerön, the largest island in Lake Siljan. Take the opportunity to visit the well-preserved Viking graves, Sollerön's beautiful church, the local heritage center, the sacrificial well, and the Agnmyren nature reserve before continuing on to the Vasaloppet finish line in Mora.
Take an evening walk along the shore of Lake Siljan, enjoy good food at local restaurants, and pass under the Vasaloppet finish line portal as many times as you want.
Day 4 - Gustav Vasa, Anders Zorn & Hårkullor (Mora-Våmhus-Orsa)

Take the opportunity to visit the Vasaloppet Museum or Zorn's Gammelgård with its art museum and café before continuing along Lake Orsa towards the Hårkullorna in Våmhus. A bit further away, on the other side of the lake, lies Kalle Moraeus' hometown of Orsa. For those who have the energy and want to make a detour, a stunning view and beautiful mountain pasture environment await high up in Fryksås.
Just before reaching the village of Orsa, you'll find the small village of Hansjö, which boasts its own artisanal dairy where you can purchase some cheese. You can enjoy good food and accommodation at Kungshaga Hotel just outside of Orsa. Here, you also have the option (which needs to be booked well in advance) to stay in a floating hotel room on Lake Orsa.
Day 5 - Beautiful Village Environment and Relaxing Countryside (Orsa-Furudal)

The journey takes you through several smaller and picturesque Dalarna villages, as well as the larger village of Skattungbyn, which, thanks to its resourceful inhabitants, offers a variety of options for eating and drinking. At the village's cooperative café and grocery store, you can enjoy everything from delicious pastries to a tasty lunch or dinner. Don't miss the chance to visit the village's charming and authentic sausage factory, where you can experience the craft behind the delicious sausages and also buy some of their specialties to take home.
Once you arrive in Furudal and the village of Näset, you will be greeted by beautiful nature and pleasant hospitality at the family and cozy Nästes Marcusgård, Bed &Breakfast where the overnight stay takes place. There is also a unique accommodation option here - a big red super moon, floating between the trees! From your tree house you can sometimes see moose grazing below, and in the evening you can enjoy the starry sky through the cupola window. Day 6 - Waterfalls, Exciting Geology & Unique Barns (Furudal-Rättvik)

On the final day of the cycling tour, you'll have the opportunity to explore the charming old village environment of Norrboda Gammelstan as well as the fascinating geology of the Styggforsen nature reserve and waterfall in Boda Kyrkby. This area clearly shows the visible traces of a powerful meteorite impact that occurred 400 million years ago, and has since left a lasting impact on the Siljan region in various ways.
Before you arrive in Rättvik and Hotel Lerdalshöjden, you pass the unique agricultural landscape of Nedre and Övre Gärdsjö. The area is also known as the Barn Kingdom because of its approximately 200 old barns, the oldest of which is from the 13th century, one of the oldest known in Sweden. Here is also Björgårdens syltmakeri with its charming farm shop. Once back in Rättvik, it's time to tie up the trip and enjoy one last time a wonderful sunset over Siljan.
