The combination of physical activity, beautiful landscapes, and interesting history is a great recipe for those who want to recharge their batteries. The centerpiece of this cycling package is Wik Castle with origins from the 13th century. You will be staying at Lårstaviken's shore and cycling in the area known as Fjärdhundraland with all its wonderful farms and living history.
The environment is incredibly beautiful with apple orchards and beautiful hazel groves for you to enjoy. Fjärdhundraland is an old cultural landscape with living farms where you can buy locally produced food, have a cup of coffee or maybe buy art and crafts. Cycling, discovering, and being part of nature will fulfill your days around Wiks Castle and Fjärdhundraland. Indulge in great food and a castle that surrounds you with warmth, where the vegetables, honey, and apple juice you consume are produced on the farm, which is also KRAV-certified. Wiks Castle has an exciting history that you can learn more about on site, and many legends and stories revolve around the castle, which is known for its ghosts. In the morning, a certain room in one of the corner towers always shines.
When you arrive at the castle around 15:00, check in and enjoy comfortable hotel rooms decorated in Nordic style. After making yourself at home, there is time and opportunity for a nice bike ride from Wik Castle to Örsundsbro (26 km round trip). In Örsundsbro, there is Gamla Bion, a cinema museum that shows films on summer evenings, Salnecke Castle with the fine Salnecke Castle Café, and Kappen, a small museum that shows what a country store looked like in the past, on the site of Sweden's first cooperative shop. In the evening, a well-composed dinner is served in the castle's restaurant. Enjoy a good night's sleep before it is time for a cycling day on Fjärdhundraland's beautiful cycle paths.
At Wik Castle you stay comfortably in beautiful hotel rooms located in their own buildings next to the castle. The deciduous forest with its fine paths and the proximity to nature together with the beach right next to your hotel room make this place unique in its kind.
On today's bike ride around Lake Alstasjön, wide views, flowering roadsides and churches from the Middle Ages await. Maybe you buy a piece of cheese or a herb when you stop at one of the farm shops. Stop by Salnecke Castle Café for a cup of coffee or something else delicious. Enjoy beautiful back roads and old country lanes during your bike ride, and be prepared to share the road with cars on some stretches. In the evening, a tasty dinner and overnight stay await you.
Start the day with a morning swim and a good breakfast. Pack your things in peace and quiet before it's time to check out of the room. Perhaps take a last walk around Wik's castle and look out over the water before returning home with replenished spiritual batteries.
