The south coast trail is marked with red signs along the road.

Over a thousand years ago, the Vikings launched their boats from this part of Skåne's south coast before their voyages across the seas.

Start your journey in the cozy town of Ystad and stroll among the 300 old half-timbered houses with lush gardens and cobbled streets. Ystad has one of Sweden's best-preserved preserved monastery buildings. Enjoy the herb garden, visit the museum or have a coffee in the garden. Keep walking - but in Wallander's footsteps! Take a look at the films and filming locations at Ystad's tourist center, there are also guided tours for the avid Wallander reader. Between Ystad and Trelleborg you cycle past cozy Mossbystrand with crystal clear water and the living fishing villages Abbekås and Hörte. Along the coast full of ancient Bronze Age mounds and historic stone dolmens.

With the sea as your nearest neighbor, you cycle past Beddingestrand, which really comes alive in the summer! Sweden's southernmost cape can be found in Smygehuk, where the fish smokehouse offers local specialties. There are also shops, cozy cafés and a small fishing port. Stop and take a liquid break and then continue towards the old fishing village Böste and the cozy harbor in Gislöv's location. Finally you arrive in Sweden's southernmost city Trelleborg. There is a pedestrian street with shopping and restaurants, lush parks, palm trees and plenty of public food. Do not forget to visit the reconstructed Viking castle Trelleborgen, with its museum and café.
