Cycling along the southern part of the Sweden Trail is like traveling through a tapestry of historic cities, fertile landscapes and shimmering coasts. Starting in the vibrant city of Gothenburg with its historic harbor, you'll travel through a landscape that envelops you with beautiful nature. Forests, lakes and open fields all tell the story of Sweden from Viking times to the present.

On your way along the Southern Sweden Trail, you will come across many towns and villages, each with its own distinctive character. Vimmerby, with its connection to Astrid Lindgren, offers childhood memories, while the coastal town of Oskarshamn offers a coastal landscape on the Baltic Sea. Kalmar, with its majestic castle, stands as a reminder of the region's rich history, and Öland offers a genuine nature experience.

Along the coast, with towns like Ystad and Helsingborg, you'll experience Skåne's iconic beaches, old-world charm and exciting crafts. The routes crossing inland take you deep into the Scanian soul, through rural landscapes, picturesque villages and the rich farmland. Smygehuk, the southern tip of Sweden, and the picturesque coastal town of Trelleborg offer a sense of having reached the end of the land, where land meets sea.

Shorter sections of the Southern Sweden Trail run along roads with moderate traffic. Mostly the trail runs on small roads and pedestrian and cycle paths.
