Torpshammar-Bräcke

Through deep forests to open Storsjöbygd you cycle in Jämtskogen where robbers lurked in the past. Past magnificent wooden houses by fish-rich waters. In Fränsta you can enjoy the view of Torpssjön. There is the beautiful Torps church, which has a St. Olav sculpture from the 13th century. Don't miss the wooden Vikbron bridge from 1888, which is 133 meters and the longest of its kind in Sweden. St. Olavsleden continues along Ljungan and arrives at the magnificent Byforsen Bridge. At Ljungan just outside Ljungaverk is Hussborgs Herrgård, a stately stone house from the late 19th century.

There is much to discover in Borgsjö. Don't miss St. Olav's spring at the foot of Bergåsen, one of the most famous along the trail. Also visit Borgsjö church, one of Sweden's most beautiful rococo churches from 1771, with its St. Olav sculptures and the impressive bell tower, called "The King among wooden towers in the North". There are several historic buildings in the homestead. There is also a tourist office, Naturum and a restaurant.

In Jämtskogen and Bräcke there were inns that welcomed everyone from royalty and archbishops to merchants, couriers and sometimes less honorable guests. At the end of the 19th century, Jämtkrogen became famous thanks to the legendary innkeeper "Moster i Krog". In Bräcke, which grew up during the expansion of the railroad in the 1870s, there are stately wooden houses from the turn of the century that remind us of the community's history. At the homestead there is a walking area, a museum open in summer and a café. Bräcke church from 1859 sits beautifully on a hill and is well worth a visit.
