Skaftö with its delightful scenery is ideal for those who like to combine archipelago nature experiences with cycling. The large round Skaftö around extends around the island and is about 19 kilometers long. There are also less bike paths and trails that you can use to explore the island.
Skaftö or Skaftölandet is an island in Lysekil municipality in Bohuslän. The island's largest resorts are Grundsund, Rågårdsvik and Fiskebäckskil. If you have ever seen a section in the TV series "Salt Island" you know what it looks like, because it was on the Skaftö series was recorded. Picturesque fishing booths, classic smooth bohuslänsk cliffs, sunny jetties and a live boating life. In the little club there is a marine biology station belonging to Uppsala University and in the nearby Baltic side passenger ferry goes to Lysekil on the mainland. An attraction dating back to the late 18th century is Grundsund's church (very late, it was inaugurated in 1799).
Bicycles can be rented at Skaftö Hostel in Grundsund. You can also take a bicycle on the Carl Wilhelmsson passenger ferry at no extra charge. There are a number of restaurants and smokers where you can eat in both Grundsund and Fiskebäckskil. There are also grocery stores, boat and seal safaris and kayak rentals. Here you will find one map with walking and cycling routes on Skaftö.
Here you can dine in picturesque archipelago surroundings with the mighty western sea just around the pier. The menus are clearly inspired by the location, with plenty of seafood. Enjoy your meal!
At Skaftö Golf Club you can have a nice lunch. You who play golf are welcome to a slightly hilly and scenic course overlooking the cliffs and sea.
Bobbo Royson is a true Grundsund fisherman standing at the helm. In the fish cart they sell fresh fish and seafood, and arrange both lobster and crayfish tours during the season.
