The stage is part of the Göta canal cycle path, and follows the gravel drag road along the Göta canal. The small community Tåtorp is located by Lake Viken. Here is the Västgöta part's only hand-operated lock. It is also walking distance to the highest point of the dug canal, Lanthöjden.
After cycling from Jonsboda past Stång and along the canal, you will reach Vassbacken. This place is like an oasis in the middle of the country, with a café, camping, parking and hostel. In the past, Vassbacken, like so many other places along the canal, was a significant and lively transhipment site. Do not miss the sculpture "The Boy" by Bianca Maria Barmen
The stretch past Lanthöjden is very different from the plain and arable landscape you have previously passed. Now you meet more and more forest and mountains, and next to the canal grow ferns. You can also find blueberry and lingonberry rice in the forest near the canal edge. The stretch from Lanthöjden to Tåtorp took the canal builders seven years to complete due to the fact that they had to blast their way through bedrock. In> Tåtorp you can spend the night and have coffee at the cozy garden café.
Do not miss the beautiful sculpture "The Boy" which sits and looks out over the canal. The artist Bianca Maria Barmen connects to her own channel experiences as a child.
