

Borensberg – Berg verified
The stage is part of the Göta Canal cycle path and takes you from Borensberg to Berg's locks. The lock in Borensberg, named Nicolas August, is one of the two locks along the Göta Canal that are still opened by hand. From Borensberg, it is perfect to cycle or walk along the old towpaths, which are completely car-free. Along the way you can stop and pet the fine canal sheep.
The small town Mountain is one of the Göta Canal's famous destinations with its locks consisting of a lock staircase and two double locks. Hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world come here every year to experience when boats are channeled through the canal. You can also experience the wings of history through a visit to Vreta Monastery, a Benedictine nunnery from the 12th century. From Berg, several canal cruises depart daily to nearby islands and resorts.
