Many Swedes have discovered how fantastic it is to live on a real farm. Christina Wetterberg runs Låsta Gårdshotell and manor outside Strängnäs together with her husband Johan. Sweden by Bike asked her to tell her about some nice excursion destinations by bike in the area.
You run Låsta Gårdshotell which is a bicycle-friendly accommodation. Can you give some tips on where to cycle when staying with you?
The nice bike path Näckrosleden passes right outside our yard. Then there are many who live with us who cycle around Lake Mälaren. Sweden's largest lake island Selaön is 9 km from us. There are also a number of excellent cycle paths and the whole island is fantastically beautiful. One attraction is Åsa burial ground, which is a large shipwreck.
Are there any other fun activities that you can do with you, in addition to cycling?
Our hotel is located on a farm. We do not run a farm, but there are horses, sheep, chickens and cats that you are welcome to visit. In the garden there is a boules court and a trampoline for the children. There are mushroom and game rich forests right next to the hotel. When you come home from the forest walk, you can cook your own dinner in one of the guest kitchens. There are several grills and there is a wood burning pizza oven for guests.
What opportunities do you have when you have cycled a whole day and want to relax?
Silence, peace, quiet and a homely feeling are comments from many of our guests. It is about 2 km to the nearest bathing place.
